  4. And more!

What do you do if your Baltimore City Permit is taking a long time to get approved?:

  1. If your permit seems to be taking too long, it is possible that the permit has fallen through the cracks on the City's part, and is not actually progressing at all.
  2. It is important to check your permit's status to make sure that none of the reviews are significantly overdue.

How to check the processing status of a Baltimore City Permit:

  1. Log into E-Permits and click on the "My Records" tab

  2. Click on the Record Number you would like to check

  3. Click on the "Record Info" dropdown and select "Processing Status"

  4. Each step of permit review should be listed with a due date. Please note that some reviews are for prescreening. After prescreening, additional reviews will likely be assigned to your permits with their own due dates.

  5. Even if a review is marked as "In Progress" it is possible to be stuck.

  6. See the following example of a permit which has been waiting for the plans distribution:

What to do if Your ePermits Review is Way Past due:

  1. If an ePermits review/plans distribution is more than a week overdue, you should follow up.

  2. It is very difficult to sort out these type of issues by calling the permit office. In my experience, phone calls are rarely answered or returned by the Baltimore City Permit Office, despite what their voicemail says.

  3. If there is a specific permit reviewer who is assigned and not reviewing you should email them directly. their email address will be firstname.lastname@baltimorecity.gov.

  4. For other stuck issues you will want to visit the permit office in person for the most immediate results.

  5. You can also contact the Permit Services Liaison: Shenika Lewis via email: shenika.lewis@baltimorecity.gov with your permit number and a description of your issue.
