What can a Permit History Request do?
If you are researching a property and would like any information on previous permits, citations, building plans, inspection notes, certificates of completion, occupancy, reports, or anything else, you can submit a duplicate document request, and Baltimore City will send you any archived record documents they have.

Fees:

For photocopies of documents other than approved plans, $1 for the 1st page and 50¢ for each additional page

For duplicates of permits other than approved plans, $10 for each duplicate issued
-
For copies or duplicates of approved plans, $10 per sheet plus any charge involved in reproducing them.

The Building Official may require a deposit in the amount of $100 for any copy or duplicate request that:

Is for photocopies of documents, other than approved plans or permits, estimated to be in excess of 200 pages; or
-
Is for photocopies or duplicates of more than 10 approved plans or permits.

You will receive an email with the invoice and payment instructions.

Follow the instructions and pay the invoice.

Timeline:
It takes about 10 business days for Baltimore to find the documents, they will then send you an invoice for the total number of pages they are able to dig up, then will email you the documents within a few hours of receiving payment

You must submit the period of time which you want them to search.

Ex: all permits and citations from 2002 until present day.

The fee for photocopies of violation notices, condemnation notices, and records related to either, will be waived if the notices are:

For a residential property and the copies and the fee waiver are requested by:

The current owner of the property, as evidenced by a recorded deed, or
-
A current occupant of the property, as evidenced by an executed lease or other record satisfactory to the Building Official.
